It used to come in a sealed tin can. Now its rotten form comes openly to your desktop with all its putrid title containing junks like d-i---et and v14g-r-a.

Can we do something here?

Actually, there are lots of things we can do such as (not in order of importance):

1. Using  SPAM filter.

the range starts from webmail spam filter to your own desktop tool. Spambayes is one of the example. Its free (opensource) and accurately filters email based on content. It does learn to recognize the content you dont want.

2. try to use paid email service.

They usually dont have the urge to suddenly feel "its important to share this usefull information" with their so called friends.

3. calm that Fw:-happy attitude.

Not all people using webmail, and not everyone want to sort each and every email from spam.

4. use common sense.

spammers use any mean necessary to attract your attention. Using seemingly friendly subject line, playing with w0rD5, and many other thing. Remember this when you receive an email from someone you dont know that seems to be so kind and attentive.
